WTSA RESOLUTION 49 (Rev. Dubai, 2012)<\/span><\/h3>\n

ENUM<\/span><\/h4>\n

The World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (Dubai, 2012),<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • recognizing<\/span>\n
      \n
    • a) Resolution 133 (Rev. Guadalajara, 2010) of the Plenipotentiary Conference, in particular:<\/span>\n
        \n
      • i) the continuing progress towards integrati on of telecommunications and the Internet;<\/span><\/li>\n
      • ii) the existing role and sovereignty of ITU Member States with respect to allocation and management of their country code numbering resources as enshrined in Recommendation ITU-T E.164;<\/span><\/li>\n
      • iii) the paragraph instructing the Secretary-Genera l and the Directors of the Bureaux to take any necessary action to ensure the s overeignty of ITU Member States with regard to Recommendation ITU-T E.164 numbering plans whatever the application in which they are used;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • b) the evolving role of the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly, as reflected in Resolution 122 (Rev. Guadalajara, 2010) of the Plenipotentiary Conference,<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • noting<\/span>\n
          \n
        • a) the work of Study Group 2 of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) concerning ENUM;<\/span><\/li>\n
        • b) the current unresolved issues con cerning administrative control of the highest level Internet domain which will be used for ENUM,<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • resolves to instruct ITU-T Study Group 2<\/span>\n
            \n
          • 1 to study how ITU could have administrative control over changes that could relate to the international telecommunication resources (including na ming, numbering, addressing, and routing) used for ENUM;<\/span><\/li>\n
          • 2 to evaluate the current interim procedure for ENUM delegation, and report back to the Director of the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau,<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
          • instructs the Director of the Telecommunication Standardization Bureau<\/span>\n
              \n
            • to take appropriate action to facilitate the above an d to report to the ITU Council annually regarding the progress achieved in this area,<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
            • invites Member States<\/span>\n
                \n
              • to contribute to these activities,<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
              • further invites Member States<\/span>\n
                  \n
                • to take appropriate steps within their national lega l frameworks to ensure proper implementation of this resolution.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
