WTDC RESOLUTION 36 (Rev. Hyderabad, 2010)
Support for the African Telecommunication Union
The World Telecommunication Development Conference (Hyderabad, 2010),
- recalling
- Resolution 58 (Kyoto, 1994) of the Plenipotentiary Conference, particularly its resolves,
- recalling further
- Resolution 21 (Rev. Doha, 2006) of the World Telecommunication Development Conference,
- considering
- the urgent need of the African Telecommunication Union (ATU) for assistance and cooperation,
- resolves to instruct the Director ofthe Telecommunication Development Bureau
- to take all necessary steps to associate ATU inthe implementation of the ITU Telecommunication Development Sector (ITU-D) Action Plan 2010-2014, in respect of support to the African ICT sector in the framework of NEPAD,
- requests the Secretary-General and instructs the Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau
- to take all necessary steps to provide ATU withadministrative support and assistance, including logistical and information technology support, inparticular by stepping up cooperation between ATU and the ITU Regional Office for Africa, and by making experts available to that organization.
